Record Description :  This file contains the records generally associated with the final approval/disapproval of coal mining permit applications, including notices of intent to explore for coal, exploration permits, adjacent area permits, and those documents reflecting the final status of the coal mine site. Records in this file include, but are not limited to: the approved coal application and permit, ownership and control info, adjacent area applications, revisions, transfers and renewals of permit, inspection reports, final bond release retiring permit or bond forfeiture, unabated enforcement actions, unpaid civil penalty assessments and their associated documentation, final operator reports, complaints, lease/deeds, rights of entry, consents, geologic data, hydrologic data (including monthly and quarterly monitoring reports), application map, final map and cross section map(s). Records are added throughout the active life of the permit.

Paper records to be retained permanently unless they are scanned and saved in electronic format. Once these documents are scanned and saved in an electronic format the paper copy will be sent to the State Archivist for review. Paper Archives
