Record Description :  This record series contains evidence of employees’ internal (conducted by the Department’s Workforce Planning and Development section) and external (professional development, Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) academy classes, OSHP roll call, specialized law enforcement/peace officer license and certification etc…) training. NOTES: 1) OSHP auxiliary member training records are retained in accordance with this schedule. 2) OSHP breathalyzer (blood content or BAC) and speed measuring device (SMD) certifications are retained in accordance with SANs 760-1531 and 760-1530.

Retain for life of employment, plus seven (7) years. Records are retained in component office files in the Department’s Workforce Planning and Development section and OSHP Academy, as well Ohio Homeland Security (OHS), Ohio Investigative Unit (OIU), Emergency Management Agency, and OSHP district offices. Records may be imaged. If imaged, paper may be destroyed when electronic record is validated. Records may be transferred to DPS Record Center during retention.
