Record Description :  Record includes correspondence related to any person who is driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of an alcohol and/or controlled substance (D.U.I.) and is arrested by a police officer. They will be requested, under Section 4511.191 of the Ohio Revised Code, to submit to a chemical test to determine the alcohol and/or drug content in his/her system. If the person refuses, a BMV 2255 form is completed by Law Enforcement and forwarded to the ALS Unit for processing.

Effective December 2001, all ALS suspension cases are stored on the Optic Image System for at least 50 years. Administrative License Suspension cases are alcohol related offenses and are maintained on the records for law enforcement and the courts to determine the look back period and the number of previous offenses received. HB 163 determines the need for the courts to have the records for at least 50 years. Electronic Delete
