Record Description :  Per Section 4503.181 of the Ohio Revised Code, an application for a Historical license plate ( passenger vehicle only ) only needs to be completed once upon the request of the applicant for the purpose of obtaining Historical license plates on a vehicle that is 25 years or older. The application contains the owners name and address, description of the vehicle, serial number, license number, deputy registrar name and address, plate fee, date of purchase, the date of plate issuance and the method in which the fees were paid. All historical applications and supporting documments submitted prior to 1979 must be permanantly retained, as there was no electronic means of storage. All historical applications and supporting documents dated 1979 or later are subject to Retention Schedule, Agency Series # REGS0501 which indicates that historical application should be destroyed two years after the audit date.

All historical Registration Applications and supporting documents submitted in the year 1979 or after shall be maintained for two years after the audit date.
