Retain for 5 years after license expires or 1 year after death, then destroy. Expired licensees can seek reinstatement for 5 years after date of expiration, so file should be available for review for that period of time in the event that re-activation of license is sought. Files of deceased licensees can be destroyed after one year because they do not have any value. Paper Shred
